A person has the right to expect privacy in areas deemed private, like a bathroom or a bedroom. However, if the person is living in the house they should be aware of any cameras. If they are aware and do nothing to correct it, then they are giving their approval by not voicing against it. How could a person not be aware in their own house? If the "person" is a guy then their rights are limited but it could be stated that the cameras are for security. If the video never leaves the house, is never viewed by those outside the house, then the privacy issue looses some steam. | Doesnt anyone find the prefects bathroom in hogwarts odd? This isnt about it being alien, it's the fact that it's a singular, unisex bathroom with one giant 'tub' in it. | My understanding is that the prefects' bathroom is meant to be used by only one person at a time. There are only - what? eight prefects? - so I expect they just take turns like any normal people do when they have to share a bathroom. It's got a giant bath because it's fun and fantastic and something you'd totally expect at Hogwarts. I'm sure Rowling had no intention to imply there were nightly sex orgies going on there, which is what you seem to have inferred. As with most books, there's not much mention of bathrooms and toilets at all except when they're necessary to the plot. I can't remember reading about bathrooms for the non-prefects, for example. That doesn't mean Rowling made an oversight, or that the students never bathed or evacuated their bowels. It simply means she's got better things to do with her story than describing all the mundane minutiae of daily life. These are the sorts of things we readers are supposed to accept as given.
